Group Tours
Public Tours
Docent-led guided public tours are given at 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The tours are included free with your admission and you are welcome to join us by meeting at the front desk at 2:00 p.m.
If you have a group of 12 or more planning to join these weekend 2 p.m. public tours, please indicate this at least 24 hours in advance you may qualify for a group discount.
If you wish to have a separate group tour, this may be scheduled for Wednesday through Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. by leaving a message at 925.736.2277, extension 236. Please indicate your tour group needs in your message. Your call will be returned within a few days.
Group Tour Information
- The tour group discount admission is $6 per adult and $4 per senior citizen 65 and over. Children and students in a tour group are free.
- Scheduled school groups, youth groups and handicapped groups are free, including a reasonable number of chaperones. School groups include preschool through college and continuing education/adult schools.
To schedule your group:
- You must have at least 12 in your group.
- Schedule your visit at least 24 hours ahead.
- For a docent-led guided tour, you must request a docent at least three weeks ahead.
Our museum docents are volunteers who are highly qualified and have graduated from a rigorous one-year training. Please be considerate of their time and arrive promptly. If, at the last moment, your tour group will be late or is canceling please call as soon as possible and talk to our receptionist at 925.736.2277, extension 333, and also leave a message on extension 236.
If you are requesting a group tour, please provide the following information in your message:
- your name and phone number
- your group's name, if relevant
- the best time to reach you
- your tour date and time
- the number of guests in your tour.
If you are requesting a docent, please indicate which exhibits you wish to see.
If you are scheduling a group tour for a car club, please also indicate how many cars are coming, if you would like to display cars on the plaza in front of the museum or also in the lower public parking lot. 12 cars maximum will typically provide a nice display of your club cars on the museum plaza.
