School Tours
The automobile has played a dramatic role in the social and economic development of humankind. The Blackhawk Museums impressive collection of magnificent automobiles and historical images clearly presents the social and cultural impact, historical importance, technological imagination and innovation, and artistic creativity and craftsmanship that convey the human spirit.

Museum educator Robin Wiley portrays Berta Benz, the first woman driver, for first graders from Quarry Lane School (Pleasanton, CA), and tells the true story of how she drove her husband's creation the worlds first patented car on the worlds first car trip in 1888.
This school program, called Lets Go for a Ride, introduces younger grades (K 3) to the history of the first automobiles and how much we now take our cars for granted 100 years later. The students then tour our exhibition of Automotive Treasures with a much greater appreciation for the numerous features which have been introduced over the past century.
